The author, Ibn Al-Jawzi, has dedicated this work towards the parents and their lofty status within Islam. Their status is so important Allaah has mentioned it several times in the Quran in combination with verses on Tawheed. Also in the Sunnah you’ll find a lot of narrations concerning the parents and their status. So it is of utmost importance that we learn on how to treat and respect our parents (even if they’re not muslims) for it can bring about the pleasure of Allaah.
