Domaine Chante Cigale Extrait, Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc (6 Bottle Case)

A full bodied, top cuvée from a stellar Châteauneuf producer. The domaine is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with a soil characterised by the famous ‘galets roulés’ on the surface. A big part of the vineyard is located on the famous plateau de Cabrières, close to Château Montredon. The size of the vineyard is 5 hectares (12 acres) for the white wine. The Roussanne for Extrait comes from a very specific plot and the vines are over 40 years old. The soils of the vineyard are made up of clay and chalk covered with a layer of the pebbles, which naturally keeps yields low. Manual grape harvest with selective sorting. Yields are limited to 25hl/ha. The wine is aged in new oak demi-muids for 9 months on lees. Domaine Chante Cigale ‘Extrait,’ Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc wine has rich apricots and perfumed floral notes on the nose, with flavours of peaches and honeysuckle with a touch of citrus overlaid with subtle vanilla and creamy oak. The style is unctuous and textured and will develop even more complexity as it ages. The finish is pleasingly fresh and long. Lovely with grilled sea bass, chicken with cream and girolles.
